Biblia Sacra Latina - 1476

The printing of this Bible is attributed to Johann Sensenschmidt and Andreas Frisner of Nuremberg in 1476. This is approximately 25 years after the publication date of Johannes Gutenberg's Bible, the first product of modern typography.

Wants the first and last blank leaves, also folio 17, half of folio 21, and about 6 leaves at folio 387, from chapter viii of the Book of Revelation. Initials are in red and blue. The binding is not contemporary, but may contain original boards.

Previous edition by B. Richel: Basle, 1475 (Hain *3062, Gesamtkatalog 4221). Begin: Incipit epistola sacti (sic) hieronimi ad paulinu. MS inscription reads: Loci Capucin: Rottenbur[g]. There was a Capuchin monastery in Rottenburg am Neckar, founded in 1617, built 1622-1624, and closed 1806 (source Rottenburg archives, 2002).
