The bound volume consists of 4 gatherings in 4s. Preliminary gathering, A, contains the title page and approbations and ordinances relating to the covenant on unnumbered pages. Gathering B consists of the text of the league and Covenant on 6 numbered pages, followed by the signatures of 600 "subscribers" and 456 other names, written by a notary.
The notarial list reveals an analysis of trades active in Dundee at the time. Most numerous are: Brabiners (95); Maltmen (88); Cordiners (56); Warkmen (33); Tailors (26); Boatmen (15); Merchants (15); Mariners (13); Hammermen (13); Baxters (11); Sailors (11); Bonnetmakers (10). A further 22 trades are listed.
