Dundee Weekly Advertiser, Vol 1, No 1 - 1801

This issue was published on Friday, January 16th, 1801, and the title subsequently became Dundee, Perth and Cupar Advertiser, which finally merged with the Courier and Argus to become the Courier and Advertiser in 1926.

The front page is devoted solely to advertisements and notices, including the let of lands at Middle Brighty in the County of Forfar, and an announcement concerning the Irish and English State Lotteries.

There is little local news, and that is mostly concerned with commercial matters. The principal pre-occupation is with national and international news, including a lengthy chronicle of the year 1800. The editorial is confined to a brief column on the penultimate page, where the editor promises "a faithful and accurate account of the most material occurrences...; and as it is not meant to be the vehicle of any party-politics, facts will appear as they are, leaving its readers to make their own comment."
